Commitment to Community
The passion TBonz has for Camp Rainbow, a camp for children with cancer who are treated at our local Children’s Hospital, began 29 years ago when Francis Friedman shared the need for a camp with owners Mark Cumins and Jerry Scheer. TBonz has been a loving supporter of Camp Rainbow since that time.
In response to the growing needs of families served by the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, the YMCA of Greater Augusta and the Children’s Hospital of Georgia (CHOG) have joined forces to renovate and expand a local facility called Camp Lakeside which is a 100-acre property 35 miles from downtown Augusta on the banks of Lake Thurmond in Lincolnton, Georgia. Camp Lakeside is a YMCA property and will serve children with all types of medical needs from the Children’s Hospital of Georgia each summer. Some of these medical needs include; cancer, diabetes, heart defects, joint and spine injury and developmental delays.
How can you help us make the new facility and camp experience at Camp Lakeside amazing for these kids? Join us by visiting our website, www.tbonzofaugusta.com and select the “Donate Here” button at the top of the page. Any amount that you give goes directly to building the new camp facility. Your contribution will go a long way to helping these children have a wonderful camp experience in a fun and safe environment. Learn more at www.thefamilyy.org and select Camp Lakeside.
TBonz also provides local community support by partnering with Golden Harvest Food Bank, a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization that offers direct service programs, food pantries and community education about hunger. Learn more at www.goldenharvest.org
Every Thanksgiving TBonz has the honor of feeding 450 children in need and their parents, with all extras going to Golden Harvest Food Bank. TBonz also delivers over 100 “To-Go” orders to patients and staff at the Medical College of Georgia. This service provides patients and their parents a nice Thanksgiving dinner as they undergo treatment.
